2009 Brown Club of Boston Whitewater Rafting Trip
Two days, two rivers, unlimited fun
This August 7th through 9th, join the Brown Club of Boston for an unforgettable, two-day whitewater rafting excursion on the Kennebec and the Dead River in Maine! This trip is available to ALL skill levels, whether you’re a seasoned pro or you’ve never even seen a raft before.
The trip (full details below) is organized by the Boston Ski and Sports Club (BSSC) and includes 2 days of rafting, equipment, instruction, roundtrip transportation, camp site accommodations and all food you’ll need.
Best of all- the whole weekend is only $299! This is a special Brown Club price that is $60 less than what BSSC members pay and a full $90 less than what non-BSSC members have to shell out.
There are a limited number of seats reserved for Brown Club members (and their family and friends). We fully expect the trip to sell out. Buy your ticket today to make sure you don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
The Details:
Dates: August 7-9, 2009
Background on the Rivers: The Dead River boasts the most continuous whitewater anywhere in the east and is only available for rafting a few select days all season. The Kennebec is the most rafted river in New England. This trip includes them both!
Transportation: We will be taking a roundtrip deluxe motor coach with Yankee bus line. Pickup on Friday August 7th will be at 2:30pm from downtown Boston (sure, that means you might have to cut out of work a little early, but take advantage of those built up vacation days! This trip will be worth it). We’ll return to Boston at approximately 10pm on Sunday.
Food: Included in the price- 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches on the river, and the Saturday night Lobster cookout.
Price: Brown Club Members (AND their friends and family!) can get this whole package for only $299!!
How to sign up: Call the BSSC at 617-789-4070 ext 229. Ask for Randy and tell him you want the special Brown Club price! Friends and family can call and request this package as well. As mentioned before, the trip’s cost includes guides, all equipment and instruction, and a BSSC escort for the entire weekend.
Itinerary: Friday night, we’ll arrive at Moxie Camp on Moxie Lake where we will stay in 8-person platform tents. Call it glorified camping- all you need to bring is a sleeping bag or blanket, the rest is taken care of.
Saturday morning, the Club will head out to conquer the narrow and fast moving rapids of the Kennebec River, tackling such famous hits as Rock Garden, Big Mama, Whitewasher, and the big hole of all holes… Magic Falls. There will be plenty of places for water fights, swimming, relaxing, and even taking some rapids solo.
Back at Moxie Camp, we’ll enjoy a slide and video show of our carnage and then people are free to hang out on the lake, take a boat out for a spin, swim, or just relax. That evening, we’ll feast on a LOBSTER cookout and share stories around the campfire (veggie alternative can be arranged).
On Sunday morning, it’s river # 2 as we take on the fast moving Dead River- class 3 and 4 all the way down. This time there will be no ‘dead’ spots, no places to swim or water fights, no pulling over for lunch, this is non-stop rapids….like a wet roller coaster ride. Lunch will be provided at the end.
Remember, there are a limited number of seats reserved for our Club, so get your friends together and order your tickets ASAP before this incredible deal sells out!!
