Letter from Renee and Jim, Club Co-Presidents

August 2010

Greetings from the Brown University Club of Boston!

On behalf of the entire Board of the Club, we are writing to give you a preview of what we hope will be the most exciting, engaging year yet for the Brown Club of Boston – the second largest Brown Club in the world.

Building on last year’s slate of over 40 events, our focus for the upcoming year is to increase the diversity of programming to ensure that the Club provides something for everyone. Throughout the upcoming year, we plan to offer opportunities for those with professional, academic, social, community service, artistic, and athletic interests.

In addition to new activities, we plan to repeat and expand upon a number of successful events from last year, including our most successful holiday party yet, sold-out suites at Celtics and Bruins games, theater events, academic lectures, community service opportunities, and a ski weekend in Maine. If you have ideas for events or other ways you’d like to see the Brown Club serve our fellow alumni, please do not hesitate to contact us at President@brownclubofboston.com.

We depend upon an energetic, diverse Board of Directors to put together our programs. In addition, we work with an equally enthusiastic Young Alumni Committee led by Mollie West ’09 and Himmat Randhawa ’09, and we often rely on the generous support of the Brown Alumni Association and the Alumni Relations offices in Providence.

To continue to create value for members of our vibrant Club, we want to remind you that your dues are an important source of support. Members receive substantial discounts for virtually every event that we sponsor and we are continually working on ways to provide other special discounts and benefits in return for being a member. The cost of membership pays for itself after attending one or two major events, so please take a minute to visit our new website to join us or renew your current membership status, and register for some of this year’s upcoming events: http://www.brownclubofboston.com.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for the Club or would like to volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact either of us. The full list of Board Members can be found online, and we can both be reached at President@brownclubofboston.com. Also, join our Facebook group, Brown Alums in Boston, to receive event notifications and to connect with other alumni attendees.

We hope to see you at a Brown Club event soon!
